Getting closer to the big day...and still about 8 months to go

  • Background sounds: Yours by Mariah Carey
  • Weather cloudy

Hi all!!!

I know it's been a while but things have been quite hectic. I have my regular job. Then I have the fan club to work on...helping my best friend Paris. His album is going to be out in fall, around September. I can't wait all excited...still waiting to hear the demo! Now there's a wedding going to happen...that's right my friends. I'm getting married somewhere between late January and early February. So we are going ahead with it and when I get back from marrying him in Egypt I will start filing the sponsorship papers with Canadian Immigration.

Just wanted to let you see what has been happening. The previous post I had made was of pics of my wedding dress, still not altered...and yet still it has not been altered. Everywhwere I go now to find things for my dress or outfit I bring the dress along.  I went to Fabricland and the woman there helped me out. I got some lace...it's not really lace. I can't even explain exactly what it is. I got that last week. I also got some jewelry but I'm not sure if it will go. Then on Monday I went shoe shopping with my friend Christine in China Town. It took us 3 hours to find these shoes. My feet are so small. I found two pairs in size 35 but still I need an in-sole.

Here are the pics I took of everything. The dress unaltered is in the previous post.

So this one picture is of the dress, shoes and lace.

EXITEMENT IS IN THE AIR

We are still working on immigration details, so we haven't decided on what we are doing or when we will get married. My mother found her old wedding dress from 35 years ago. I will be altering it to suit my size and style. It's an off-white satin dress, full length. Here are two photos of it.

So this is how it originally looked. When I tried it on, it seemed too old fashioned for me. It is beautiful though. I looked at my mother's wedding photos and she was absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous.

So in this one, you may not see it, but I removed the lacing that went around the collar and down the center of the dress. I want to get new lacing, more feminine to make it more up to date and more reflective of my style of fashion. The sleeves and length are a bit long, so I will get that fixed as well as bringing in the sleeves and sides, waist and hips in order to fit me better.

Well the dress made my day much too exiting even for my own good. But there is more good news. My best friend, one of them, has signed a huge Record Deal with Universal, EMI and BMG and I'm so happy for him because I knew this was going to happen.

Second half of February runs into March

  • Mood:
  • Weather above 0 with on the ground
Well, to me February had a lot of things going on. I didn't really celebrate my birthday. I worked that day. I got three cards through from work. I have two best friends whose birthdays fell on the same day, didn't celebrate. I gave some gifts in advance though to one of them. Well, it doesn't help that they live out of reach from me, even though we're in the same province. The other one, I haven't seen in a year.

Valentine's Day came and went. I worked an 11 hour shift at the flower shop, which apparently I'm not supposed to. It clashes with my current job. Oh well, I got paid and I had fun working there. I also got a dozen roses from them...

Then I got two birthday cards in the mail. One came from a very special certain someone, my boyfriend in Egypt and the other came from my friend/ co-worker while she was on vacation in England.

My sister went to Florida for a week during her spring break or whatever it was. She came back with some huge jars of Nivea cream for me, which was what I wanted and needed. Mom and dad has sent a birthday card with some money for me. Mom and dad are there, they found a place for the winter.

The weather was so strange. It rained a lot this winter, and had lots of snow storms...but it wasn't so cold. The lowest it went this winter was about -20. Compared to -40, that is a cinch.

In a few days, it will be a month from when I went to Egypt where I met the love of my life. He was already the love of my life, before I met him in person, it just made it concrete when meeting. I can't believe this is all happening. Have I mentioned that he has proposed...yeah back in January. You can only imagine how I've been feeling.  Three years ago I would have never thought or pictured myself in this situation, yet here I am. This was furthest from my mind.

Anyhow, here's a picture taken from my place of work, on another floor. I  work in a huge Canadian store. This was the first time I had been invited to a free luncheon, only because I had given excellent customer service.

Well, it's been a good year so far. Exciting things are lingering in the air for me. Getting married, a wedding to plan, a dress to design, and dreams of ever lasting love.....and life

A HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

  • Mood: happy
  • Background sounds: nothing
  • Weather freezing
I couldn't sleep the night before, or the one before that...and I had to work yesterday in the morning. We had had a snowstorm the night before, making the sidewalks icy and with -15 weather forecast, it felt like -20...good old wind chill......brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....
I left for work in the morning, mind you I couldn't get out of bed and I missed my bus. I waited for a bus on another route which ended up being totally filled to the max, so ran back to the other bus stop and caught it. I was a minute late. When I got there counting the money at the registers, my supervisor came to help, started singing, "Happy Birthday" to me. Despite how my early morning had started, I was in great spirits. Then I went to pick up a package for me, in my manager's desk. It was of three bday cards. I couldn't wait to read them, so as I walked out of the office down the hallway back to work, I open them all up. They made me laugh soooooo hard....=)). It made my day and as the day went on, everybody wished me a warm happy bday. It was nice. Getting close to the end of my shift, I was working in the pharmamart, as they needed some help. Then I headed back to my department.
I got home, exhausted, went online for a little, before I konked out on the couch.....LOL! I got messages on facebook from so many family and friends, all over the place, it was so funny. From my funwall, wall, gifts and inbox, it was a nice surprise. I also got some emails, offline messages, and phone calls.
All in all, it was a good day.
So here I am today, the day after my birthday....still on birthday mode.
Just wanted to wish everybody a very HAPPY VALENTINES DAY for this Thursday.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

  • Mood: great
  • Background sounds: tv
  • Weather very very cold
Phew finally we're here in 2008! 2007 is gone...and where did it go?

For me, the year had its ups and downs. I had a lot going on, and well I still do. To me, there are no beginnings, just continuations of better things, of life experiences. Ok, so some things do end, some things do change, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse, but it's all a part of life. I'm living and so are you.

I don't want to look back with regrets wondering if I should have done something different. I did the best I could, and hey the year turned out pretty good as I look back now. i have no regrets. I prefer to believe everything happens for a reason. If something doesn't happen, well, it's just meant to be that way.

I just wanted to wish everybody a very very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Take care and always come by for a visit.

Holiday Timing

  • Weather -2 overcast...some snow on the ground....but snowstorm snow melting away slowly.
Work, work, work, sleep, eat, some online time....and that's been this month at a glance. Right now at work (which is retail) shifts are as early as 7am and as late as 11pm. Glad when that's over. The Christmas music playing is making me batty!!!

Well, it's been a hectic time for me...and an interesting year to say the least. Anyone who is anyone, knows what I mean. The month is almost over, the year is coming to its end. Here I am with hopes up high wondering where the new year will take me....2008 here I come.

From frantically saving enough money for a vacation I truly wanted to happen at the beginning of 2007...to actually making the trip happen, to being in Egypt..... Getting to spend time with family over there and meeting new people to making new friends and what not....And here I am again, wanting, hoping and praying to go back soon, but knowing it might take longer than I'd like. Maybe that's what holds in the new year...hmmmmm...

Life is like a box of chocolates....you never know what you're going to get.....Forrest Gump....or Life is like a bowl of cherries (including the cherry pits)...either way I look at it, it should be full of surprises, some really good, and some not so to some well unwelcoming, but hey...c'est la vie.

Today, I've found a way to add my blog here to facebook....it's nuts...it's great!!!

I should go, I've got a cousin coming over. It's our holiday today...we call it Eid.
Whether you're celebrating Eid, Christmas, The New Year or some other celebration....have a happy one. Enjoy the time you get to spend with all the special and important people in your life.

Lotsa hugs, lotsa love.

SURREAL AND ADVENTUROUS

  • Mood: relaxed
  • Background sounds: silence
  • Weather sunny and 10C

SURREAL AND ADVENTUROUS

Surreal and adventurous dreams
Will he await for me in the end
Nerves left untangled
Excitement and anticipation grow
Will he know it's me he seeks for
Nerves unraveling
Sleep deprived and anxious
Will he feel the same when we meet
Nerves hold fast to reality
Time is approaching quickly
Will he see what I am seeing
Surreal and adventurous dreams
Amina Bhimla (c) Copyrights 2007

This poem was pretty much a descriptive of how I felt on my flight and the reason why I didn't sleep much at all. My nerves were all over the place.

If you weren't aware, there's a link for both my photo album of the Egyptian vacation and videos I had taken on YouTube. So check those out on the right margin, scrolling down. For those of you who have access on MSN, I have an extensive collection of the album on my MSN Space at http://unwrittenspace.live.com. Enjoy!

My flight inspired poem

This is the first poem I wrote when thinking about my trip to Egypt. This one was inspired by the scenery when looking out the window from the airplane.  By the way, there is an extended photo album on my msn space...http://unwrittenspace.spaces.live.com. In order to see it, you'll have to have be a contact with me on msn. Please check my profile and contact me, then we can further proceed. I only let my friends see these photos. Anyhow, take care and have a great day.

WHITE POWDERED CRYSTALS

White powdered crystals
filling mountains tops
Surrounded by candy cane clouds
Pink horizon spread thin and wide
Flying in the sky
Towards dreams of ever after
Filled with mystery and intrigue
Towards a dream of lasting future

White powdered crystals
Cover mountain peaks
Filling hearts with wonder
At what lies ahead and below
Surrounded by castles in the sky
Flying above the world
On a venture of dreams
To historical lands built long ago

surprise surprise!

6:14pm Egypt

I would have never thought this would happen, but it rained here for a bit this morning. I don't know how long it lasted and I didn't actually see it rain. I just saw the wet streets below from the balcony. It was cold today so I decided to stay in. I woke up late, 10am, and ended up falling asleep. I was thinking of going to the Citadel area instead of waiting till Sunday, but changed my mind. I felt tired and lazy. I was also supposed to go to the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids in Giza, but as it was cold we changed our minds on that too. It's only about an hour long show in the evening, so that can be fitted in almost anywhere.

I did change some of my calendar cause...well there were chanes made.

Anyhow, thanks for dropping by. Sorry I haven't had much chance to come by your blog, but I will do soon, maybe once I'm home again...urgh just the thought....not pleasant at all.

Hope you're all doing well. Have a great evening and weekend to come. Ciao

My calendar

So I've made a calendar of all the places I will be visiting for the next two weeks. I've planned it all out. Looks like I'm going to be quite busy. In that case I've decided to post that calendar online for you to see. Now you can see exactly what I'll be up to. I don't think I'll have enough time from tonight to do much of any posts.

I do hope you are doing very well. Take care and thanks for dropping by. Please leave me a comment or tag so I know you dropped on by.
